Sportsmanship and competitiveness: Our K-5 – Elementary ages do not maintain league standings. Our Middle School leagues are governed by Alabama High School rules. Our Intermediate ages are transitional in nature preparing players for Middle School. We have had many children successfully transition from Upward to Middle School and High School teams.

We try to accommodate your family schedule by having only one hour of practice and one game each week.

In addition to teaching skills, our focus is ministering to children and their families. Our younger ages have a set substitution system where all players are allowed equal playing time and equal opportunity for improvement.

Last season the Upward Basketball familes prepared over 150 sack lunches for men that Brother Bryan Ministries serves. "BBM’s goal is for each client to return to his family, church, and community: free from addiction with stable employment and housing with healthy relationships toward God and others."

Each season we will have service project to reach those in Jefferson and Shelby counties through the Upward Basketball families. More details will be announced soon for the upcoming season. Service projects are just one way that the Upward family can be the hands and feet of Jesus to our communities.
