Coronavirus Update – March 17, 2020

Today I am reminded of the words written in Philippians 4:6, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

As mentioned on Sunday, I want to give you an update regarding our plans for the FBC Faith Family over the next several weeks.  Beginning this Sunday, March 22 we will livestream our worship service starting at 10:45 AM. You will be able to go to the church website or Facebook page and click on the link.  Let me encourage you to invite your family and a few friends or neighbors to your house and we will worship Christ together from all over this city. Our desire is to physically gather for worship as soon as possible.  This livestream capability is a tremendous tool for the continued outreach of our congregation but it is not the new normal. We acknowledge that nothing can substitute for real people in real time worshipping together at a real place, but we also know that the church is not a building for the church is a collection of baptized believers in Jesus Christ.  Therefore, during this season of life together we will gather virtually. I cannot wait to worship with you dear friends!

Please note that there will be no Wednesday evening activities or Sunday School classes or D-Group meetings on the church campus until further notice.  The Hispanic congregation, Kindergarten, and Mother’s Day Out will follow this same schedule. The Deacons will modify our Monday Night Visitation and while we will not be “physically” going door-to-door, we will be using that time to visit by phone, text, or email everyone listed on the various Sunday School classes assigned to each deacon.  To all small groups, it is imperative that we stay connected with one another throughout this season of ministry. As needs arise, PLEASE communicate them to me or one of the other pastors or one of our faithful deacons. May this congregation be marked and known by our love for one another and our obvious devotion to Jesus Christ.

The leadership team has already evaluated some calendared events in April and we have postponed activities such as Crossover (4/5), the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt (4/11), Discovery Class (4/19), and the Widow’s Tea (4/19).

We have divided the church staff into four teams.  Each team is comprised of four to five individuals.  Each team is currently assigned a day of the week to physically be in the office; therefore, at this time we have a daily scheduled presence in the church office.

We realize that this coronavirus situation is extremely fluid and seems to be changing daily and we will adapt as new developments arise.  In Christ, we will overcome. Through it all, we will love genuinely, pray earnestly, give faithfully, and evangelize eagerly.  I love you and I am so grateful to be called your pastor.  I will see you again real soon.

Your Pastor and Friend,

Daven
